Sirlin's Articles
Some hate him, some love him; however, he does have something to say and I think it's quite beneficial if you guys at least take a look at some of his articles.

I recommend reading the "Playing to win", "Yomi" and "Writing Well" articles. Some really insightful stuff there.

Re: Sirlin's Articles
While it is his views, his article on Playing To Win pretty much describes the thoughts of countless legends in competitive gaming, including Daigo Umehara, Justin Wong, Alex Valle, Graham Wolfe, Pyrolee, EWAShock, Lex, and so on.

Great i'm gonna read that article on Ryu, my favorite character in SF4 lol.
So i'm reading playing to win, he's basically saying there's no such thing as (Cheap), you simply play to win.

Lol, I remember reading that article 3 years ago. I had such big discussions with friends of mine about it and whether it made sense or not. Good stuff, though, try not to be heavily influenced by it. I mean...for example, I play to win, however, I am lenient in some cases; such as when someone sucks, I'll ask if they want me to go easier on them. Also, don't forget that games are made to have fun ;P. Basically, you only play to win when you need to, such as when you want to get better...other than that, have fun.

Re: Sirlin's Articles
I read the playing to win article ages ago and I agreed with most points made, though the one that I disagreed with was where he describes a hypothetical situation where if someone 'playing to win' was playing in an arcade and a little girl came up and versed him, he should still play to his limit.
This makes sense to me on a certain level, where if he lowered his level it might let a bad habit or too creep in.
But on the other hand, playing to win against a mismatched opponent is just as pointless. How can you possibly hope to improve or even maintain that level when playing a much worse opponent?
If you were completely serious about keeping your level of play so high, you should not even verse the mismatched player.

Seriously, Sirlin is a idiot, nothing more, nothing less. Read his stuff, it leaves no room to play but to think he's an idiot.

Sirlins got the right idea I see nothing wrong with what hes saying and its basically just unwritten rules of fighting game communities suddenly being written down.I MAY ease up on a 10 year old girl some but im not gonna lose and id MUCH prefer to show what can be done and give her something to work towards if she wants to keep playing. If the 10 year old doesnt care then it honestly mater if i destroy her or throw the match
