Newbie Here

I'm new, just joined and recently got Burst Limit yesterday. I already have all characters/forms/stages unlocked. I also just checked out this site recently and I wanna know why is everyone sorta....set on combo's? As a matter of fact, I checked out some vids and I saw CRAZY numbers, like hitting 60-100 hits in a combo. How do you guys do that???? I can only string 10 hit combo.

Also why are the boards dead?

Years ago when the first Budokai game came out players on GameFAQs found noticed a neat trick where the attacks that can be charged by holding the button could be canceled by hitting guard while they charged.Because of this alot of attack chains with this feature gained the ability to recover near instantly making them both safe on block and allowing thewm to be comboed off of into other chains.By the time Budokai 2 came along with had a bunch of people working on the improved system figuring out what things could be comboed together as well as what cancelable chains were just good for flat out attacking the opponent.

The longer combos possible in BL is an extension of that system

The reason the BL section is empthy is because..............well Burst Limit was fucking terrible

See BL decided to change the Ki system into something that allowed you to teleport out of combos at a rate thats 5 times the speed of the characters with the fastest Ki regeneration in the other games.To put it bluntly you simply cant get through their defenses and lay a hit on the oppponent in the 3 seconds they cant TC out of anything you touch them with whereas you could in 12-18 seconds in another Budokai

Since Ultimates are not Teleport counterable the most logical strategy is to use characters with super fast ultimate to punish any openning and run away until you get enough Ki back to use it again or TC a hit and run more.Vegeta and Trunks aso have ultimates so fast they can punish you for stepping forward giving less incentive to do so

This bad Ki system was exasperated by them incocivablly slowing your movment speed significanty.So much so that you really cant be expexted get close enough to an enemy spamming final flash before they can get enough energy to TC again.

This problem is AGAIN made worse by the shitty online which ruined any hope of a xcompetitive enviroment by making most complicated combos impossible and making spamming more effective since the payoff is huge and the risk insignificant.This isnt even taking into account things like the dodge out of hit stun glitch that make the game more turtleworthy.Because of all this we have frogotten BL and focused more on the good games namely Shin Budokai 2 and Infinite World

Welcome to the board. Yeah like Cap said, the game lets u cancel certain moves by holding down a chargable move and pressing block. Then u can go into another string without breaking the combo.
