Evangelion Appreciation Topic

The purpose of this topic is to show you ignorant fools of DBC how NGE is truly a cinematic masterwork. Topic will go over deeper meanings of frame compositions and such. Don't have time to make a good first post at the moment so this will be a place holder til I have the time.

Do feel free to post your opinions....And no Cap while FLCL is a great accomplishment on a cinematic level it's no Eva.

It should go without saying this topic will contain MASSIVE SPOILERS you have been warned

The 1st post I'm going to start with Rebuild, just cause it occurred to me that I never explained something I was telling Sori about during our sync watch of 2.22(which we still need to finish).

The scene is after the fight with the 8th angel Sahaquiel. We find Asuka laying in her bed, depressed from not being able to defeat the angel by herself.

Notice how the bed acts as an island for her solitude. This is reinforced by the excellent color scheme used for the room giving gloomy feel, and lonely airplane in a cloudless sky in Pic #4 also adds to it. This scene is composed so masterfully and near perfection you truly do get a sense of loneliness that Asuka is going through in this scene and the unrest in her lines

Asuka:I've always been alone. Feeling lonely shouldn't bother me...

Now you maybe asking "Hero how can you not call this scene perfect?" That's easy my friend it's because of one poorly put instance of fanservice/pandering that is done so distastefully that it nearly kills the whole scene!

Smuggled right smack in the middle of the scene is this! Apparently someone thought it necessary that in the middle of a dead serious scene that we should get the glorious outline, as magnificent as it is, of a 14 year's crotch. I've nothing against fanservice whatsoever I mean...

can be spun into having a meaningful impact on the narrative, I'll post bout that later. But the crotch shot is just plain tasteless.
