Raging Blast - A Story and a Rant Empty Raging Blast - A Story and a Rant

Raging Blast. That's all I have to say...because that's the punchline.
What a piece of shit, why is Spike allowed to take the Dragonball Z
license and rape it in the ass on a constant basis with their games?
Here's my story with these games right...I played the first Tenkaichi,
it had its issues like a shit camera, mindless combat that was easy to
learn, easy to master, and a dumbass manual lock-on system...who ever heard of locking onto the opponent in a fucking 1v1 fighting game?

So yea, I never played the second or third games in the Tenkaichi series because I was a fairly early adopter of the 360 so anything that came out on lolPS2 at that time was dismissed by me. So we come to Burst Limit and look I was super super hyped for that game, more so than any other DBZ game ever and probably one of my most hyped games, mainly because I was on a DBZ anime binge at the time and I was into it a bit more than usual. The demo period along with the early days of Burst Limit was a great time to be on the old DBC site, we had quite a few contributors contributing combos with the usual suspects doing most of the in-depth gameplay analysis. We even had a Burst Limit tournament on the old site which ended up becoming a complete farce as I'm sure some of you remember. DBC's interest for Burst Limit begins to wane and I leave DBC indefinately, declaring I will return gloriously when the next great DBZ game comes out.

Infinity Ward comes out in the time I have been gone and I never played it but apparently it's great, and it's a Dimps game who have a good track record of DBZ games. Raging Blast is announced, it's a Spike game but it's getting talked up quite a bit as almost changing the game entirely on the Tenkaichi system which I didn't like. I buy into the interest and make my return here...to find no-one except Tay and maybe 2 or 3 others are interested. It has come out in the time my 360 was bricked so I never played it on it, and everyone's interest has moved on...but I get a PS3 and I rent it.

So I pop it in and my expectations are moderate - Tay has said good things about it and it's current gen technology being used, Spike might've gotten complacent on the previous gen churning out similar titles, so this was their chance to pool all their effort and bring us a great game. Spike have had 4 shots at DBZ games, I only played their first game, which everyone says was bad, and people say 2 and 3 are much better, so I figure they've gotten their act together by the fourth game. The first battle begins.

WHAT THE FUCK. Is it? Could it? It's actually WORSE than Tenkaichi ONE! Remember the dumbass manual lock-on system I mentioned earlier? Yea, that's gone but guess what? You can still lock-off your opponent! What fucking idiot thought it would be a good idea to allow you to lose sight of your opponent in a 1v1 fighting game?! This is the only game I've ever played where I can say the camera is completely game-breaking and I have played MGS 3: Snake Eater. The camera is FUCKING HORRIBLE. You can fight underwater, but I would only recommend it if you don't want to see what you're doing, don't want to see where your opponent is or what he's doing, and want to basically look at the fucking surface of the water while you're both underwater fighting.

The camera is so bad it's hard to put into words. One of the best ways to judge a video game camera is by how much you notice it. If you do not notice what the camera is doing, you can bet that it's a good camera. If you take notice of the camera, it's usually obstructing what you're trying to do. The camera in Raging Blast is a FUCKING ENTITY, IT EXISTS WITHIN THE GAME WORLD. It's not a tool to help the player interact with the game with ease, the camera in Raging Blast actually becomes a gameplay element you have to constantly monitor. For example, if the opponent flies into the water, in a good game you would have to ask yourself: "Should I follow him into the water or stay out, which is the best tactical move?". In Raging Blast you ask yourself: "Oh shit, if I follow him into the water the motherfucking camera will most likely spaz out and fuck me in the ass while the opponent takes off half my life bar".

With the news of Raging Blast lol2 I can't help but wonder why are people buying these games? They're not good, and even the most hardcore of DBZ fans must realise this. Dimps make good fighting games using the DBZ license. Spike make DBZ games...they try to emulate the anime series and translate it to videogames...it doesn't fucking work despite what the Spike fans will tell you. If the gameplay sucks who gives a shit if it's closer to emulating the series? I would rather a DBZ game with a good base under the license than a game that throws everything into making the authentic DBZ experience that in the end translates poorly to the videogame format.

I feel your frustration pain and confusion Bond. The honest to god answer is that the SPIKE fans are really stupid and have such low standards that a DBZ bathroom simulator would sell to them and spend most of its time hanging in their shelves after playing a month never to come out again unless another dimwit came along and went "ohhh DBZ awsum" and they end up playing for one day once.

Ive seen the same reaction with Mortal Kombat particular MK vs DC which is equally bad as tenkaichi and has the same group of people arguing its "good" as far as "NAH UH" can be considered an argument or with Killer Instinct

Yeah BT games are pure trash. The second one got me playing for a little while but after like a week it became painfully obvious just how shallow that game is.

people are sometimes so dumb they want 200 chars with the same crappy moves and attacks...i prefer having 10 chars that do awesome new moves like in BL lol but then again BL sucks in content and the ki system is fucked up..ugh i still love it because of its gameplay freaking awesome

Well Dimps failed as well with Burst Limit, the game looks good and all but it's not playable online, I would still be playing BL if the freaking online wasn't so laggy. IW is a good game but again no online mode and it's on the PS2. To be honest i'll probably rent Raging Blast 2 and I don't fucking care about the gameplay i'm just missing a good DBZ game, I thought Tenkaichi 2 was fun.

And let's note that in IW the fucking camera is annoying as well unless you fight in the time chamber it will mess up your combos, you have to completly change how to play and do Back P+K instead of doing FP+K with Goku for exemple, Dimps needed to fix this but it's too late.
