DBZ Question...

I'm not too familiar with the manga so I'm not sure if this is addressed there, but, why is it that gohan, a half-blooded Saiyan had a tail when he was born and trunks, another half-blooded Saiyan didn't?

Plothole. There's no real reason Trunks or Goten shouldn't have tails other than having them removed, but they would constantly regenerate, if that were the case. Only probable cause is that they are always removed once grown.
